Are you unable to track events for your custom conversion? Do you believe it is broken? This article can help!
Below are the following steps you should take if/when your custom conversion isn't firing properly.
Step 1
Navigate to your Custom Conversions Dashboard within Facebook Events Manager (https://business.facebook.com/events_manager2/custom_conversions).
Select the custom conversion you are needing to check. The custom conversion will expand and you will be able to see the Category, Rules, and Value. Specifically, you will want to check your Rules section. Here it should have "All URL Traffic where URL Contains..." and then whatever your URL is that you want to track. You will also want to make sure that the "Status" column shows a green dot and says, "Active".
Step 2
Next we will be using Facebook Test Events to see if everything is working properly. To do this, navigate to your Events Manager under "Test Events"(https://business.facebook.com/events_manager2)
Then, in the "Test Browser Events" section, place your landing page link and click "Open Website". This will launch your landing page in a new tab.
Once the page has been launched, proceed to send through a test. You will want to make sure that you are opting in as a lead, and scheduling so that you can check each custom conversion event.
Then you can navigate back to the previous tab to check your Events Manager. Now that you have submitted a full test, you will be able to see all of the events that have triggered. In this view, you will want to make sure you see any optin events and any schedule events that you may be tracking.
Step 3
Next, verify that your ads are setup to go to the correct URL. This may seem like a step you want to skip over, but don't. This is a very common mistake that we see that will result in your prospective leads never being able to navigate to your landing page, thus, never triggering a custom conversion to fire.
Step 4
Next you should check your paths. To do this, navigate to your Clickfunnels or GoHighLevel account and select the funnel that links to the custom conversion you are having issues with.
Ensure that the pathways are accurate and not "dirty". To do this you just need to check the settings cog below the control page, and verify it matches the primary link. Below are screenshots that will show you how to do this for both Clickfunnels and GoHighLevel.
Clickfunnels
GoHighLevel
There will always be numbers at the end of the path. But, they should only be visible once you have clicked on the Settings Cog. If they are visible in the primary URL that is highlighted, your path is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
If you made any changes while going through this step, refer back to Step 2 and test to see if everything is firing properly now. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
Step 5
Navigate to your Clickfunnels, or GoHighLevel account and select the funnel that links to the custom conversion you are having issues with.
Once there, go to the settings of the funnel and remove the pixel code from the header. Then click save. After that, place the pixel code back in the Header, and click save once more.
Once you have done that, test your landing page again using the steps from Step 2. If you are still not seeing your Custom Conversion fire properly, go to the next step.
Step 6
The only thing left to do now is to recreate your Custom Conversion. Once you have finished creating your custom conversion, complete Step 2 to ensure everything is firing properly.
