Should I use more than 1 Facebook Pixel?

Most times, the answer is NO. Check out this article though to see if you should.

If you have a Facebook Business Manager, you can have up to 100 pixels. However, that is often a mistake. You typically only need one Facebook Pixel for your business.

So, why do most businesses only need one Facebook Pixel?

Here are a few reasons:

  • It simplifies the ad creation process. You don't have to individually choose what pixel you want to optimize your events around.
  • More opportunities to "season" your pixel with more traffic. The more data you have, the more your Pixel can work with.
  • More retargeting maximization. With only one Pixel, your audiences will not be split into even smaller segments allowing for better retargeting performance.

When do you need more than one Facebook Pixel?

The only time you should really use a different pixel is if you have different websites with very different audiences. For example, if you are running ads for the fitness space AND realtors. In that case, you would want to have 2 pixels.

Facebook tracks the type of people who go to your website and/or convert into a lead. When Facebook shows your ads, they try to show them to the types of people that are more likely to take the action that you are optimizing around. They use the Pixel tracking history to make those decisions.

Final Thoughts

Assuming you are just in one niche, you should only need one pixel. If you do choose to use multiple pixels, just be mindful that there will be less data to work with, and it may take longer to "season" your pixel.
